چکیده

WiMAX is a popular broadband solution with diverse applications. With several advantages such as low cost applications and last mile solution for broadband wireless access, WiMAX will no doubt help bridge the ever increasing digital divide in many SubSaharan African countries. Many countries Sub of the Sahara have recently started deploying WiMAX to offer subscribers affordable broadband internet service. Because of the peculiar conditions in SubSahara Africa, critical design and optimization techniques will be vital in making WiMAX networks deliver as expected by subscribers. In order to achieve maximum capacity while maintaining an acceptable grade of service and higher network performance of these newly deployed networks, the effect of interference should be catered for. This paper presents Network simulations results of a newly deployed 4G-WiMAX network deployed in Accra and Tema municipality, Ghana. A Monte Carlo simulation has been used to study the total interference in the network and the results presented. Finally the Network performance is evaluated through measurements of Received Total Wideband Power (RTWP) and outdoor interference and the results compared.

Non-physician Clinicians – A Gain for Physicians’ Working in Sub-Saharan Africa; Comment on “Non-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians”

The changing demands on the health sectors in low- and middle-income countries especially sub-Saharan African countries continue to challenge efforts to address critical shortages of the health workforce. Addressing these challenges have led to the evolution of “non-physician clinicians” (NPCs), that assume some physician roles and thus mitigate the continuing shortage of doctors in these count...

Investigating the Best Radio Propagation Model for 4G - WiMAX Networks Deployment in 2530MHz Band in Sub- Saharan Africa

One of the salient factors to look at during wireless network planning is developing a modified path loss prediction models to suit a new environment other than the one it was originally designed for. This helps to give accurate predictive outcomes. This paper seeks to demonstrate the effects of applying correction factors on radio propagation model used in planning for 4G-WiMAX network through...

Is the Role of Physicians Really Evolving Due to Non-physician Clinicians Predominance in Staff Makeup in Sub-Saharan African Health Systems?; Comment on “Non-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians”

Health workforce shortages in Sub-Saharan Africa are widely recognized, particularly of physicians, leading the training and deployment of Non-physician clinicians (NPCs). The paper by Eyal et al provides interesting and legitimate viewpoints on evolving role of physicians in context of decisive increase of NPCss in Sub-Saharan Africa. Certainly, in short or mid-term, NPCs will continue to be a...
